Play Therapy
Course Description: Play is an activity done for fun and it encourages creativity, imagination, general intelligence and helps young people to get along with others. The purpose of Play Therapy is - to enable children to indirectly express inner thoughts, fears, anxieties, and feelings of rage and guilt, and also help them accomplish developmental tasks through a protected modality. The approaches to Play Therapy presented include group, family, and individual play interventions in different settings. Play Therapy has a long history of effectiveness in helping children with their conflicts and anxieties. The ability to help distressed children and their families live their lives with greater happiness and richness is its own reward. Many therapists using Play Therapy for the first time with their clients use the word "magic" to describe the results. Children's responses to this approach do indeed seem magical, and this is perhaps attributable to the special qualities of childhood. The practice of Play Therapy is becoming widespread and is increasingly being used around the world. Ideal for counsellors and social workers.
